A stream splashes gaily in front of the house - at many points along the stream you can gather fresh drinking water for the house, something the village people have been doing for decades.
And at the rear entrance of the house is a parking space for two cars, entered through a large automatic gate. There is a large outside wash basin in this area, fed by water coming from nearby springs. There is also more parking and storage space just opposite the parking area; this is situated in the former barn, which is still a part of the property. You can enter this Tuscan holiday villa either from the back entrance or through the front garden and thus directly into the large entrance hallway.
The rental price per week is €1500, including linen. Please note that you should bring your own cellphone as there is no telephone in the house. This Tuscan holiday home has heating for the winter months.
Though sited within its own grounds - and perfectly secluded - Villa Sandra is anything but isolated. The city of Lucca is a short drive away and is a real delight for visitors. Set above its complete set of mediaeval walls (and surrounded by a grassed defensive moat) Lucca is impressive enough on first sight. But explore a little more and you'll learn to love this city. With narrow winding streets dedicated to the pedestrian rather than the car, you can spend hours wandering, finding little churches, museums and mediaeval buildings. You can rest and refresh at some lovely cafes, bars and very good restaurants. And there's excellent shopping here too - with chic clothes stores as well as the essential grocers and supermarkets.
