Casa dell’Unicorno was built in 1685 by Carlo Sarteschi for his family and his friends as a summer retreat. The house is located in the upper part of Caugliano, a tiny village set on one of the many Lunigiana hilltops. The ancient stone architecture of the house has been maintained throughout the centuries. During the 18th century the house was inhabited for some years by the monks who had been expelled from the Convent of Soliera by Napoleon. Eventually the house was sold and did not revert back to Sarteschi’s heirs until 1905.

Casa dell’Unicorno is able to provide relaxation as easily today as it did over 300 years ago; yet, being only a couple of hours from Tuscany’s major cities and about one hour from the coast it can also offer much more.
