Rent this holiday villa in Pescia, close to Lucca, and you’ll have plenty of room at your disposal. The house has two queen-size double bedrooms, one bedroom with twin beds and one remodelled bathroom, down the corridor from the bedrooms. Many of the walls are painted a rich terracotta colour; the owners have furnished the bedrooms with comfortable new mattresses and lovely bed coverings.
The adjacent coach house sleeps 2-3. It has a romantic wrought-iron canopy bed and a modern, en-suite bathroom with hydro-massage shower.

The house sits next door to the villa of the owners, within its own walled garden. The owner’s villa was the home of Count Guinigi until 1957, the last descendent of the Guinigi family who ruled Lucca from the 15th century.
And this villa in Tuscany puts you within easy reach of so many enticing spots. Florence, the principal Tuscan city, is the world's most celebrated storehouse of Renaissance art and architecture. The dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore dominates the city's roofscape with the Piazza del Duomo at its feet. See the frescoes by Masaccio, Ghirlandaio and Uccello at Santa Maria Novella. Florence also has some of Italy's best palaces and churches. Cross the Ponte Vecchio and visit the Boboli Gardens; enjoy the Uffizi Gallery or see Michelangelo's famous statue of David at the Accademia di Belle Arti.

Lucca meanwhile is a lesser-known gem but still an essential visit. This ancient town, founded by the Etruscans, laid out in grid form by the Romans, and today predominantly medieval in character, sits snug within its massive 14th century defensive walls. Joggers and cyclists run around the top, amidst trees and parkland. Within, Lucca has winding narrow streets and alleyways, some fine churches and a cathedral. This is a great place to stroll at your leisure.
Pisa is much more than just the Leaning Tower, though the tower is a must-see at the centre of the marvellous Campo dei Miracoli, where the Duomo, Baptistery and Camposanto combine to form a spectacular quarter of mediaeval architecture.
There is Siena too, with its narrow cobbled streets spiralling to the centre and the Campo. Here, twice each summer, the breathtaking Palio, a bareback horse race, is contested.
