Villa Casanuova is about 2km from Castelnuovo dell’Abate — famous for the romanesque abbey of Sant’Antimo — and 11km from the hill town of Montalcino, home of the much sought, intense red wine — Brunello di Montalcino.

There is plenty to see and do in the area, with Monte Amiata, Pienza, the other local wine town of Montepulciano and the thermal spas of Bagno Vignoni high on any sightseer's list. Siena, Assisi, Orvieto, Perugia and Arezzo are all within easy day-tripping distance.

The villa has been completely renovated, a sensitive operation which was carried out with great care to maintain original structural features. Extensive use of terracotta tiles, exposed ceiling beams, traditional brickwork and dark woods lends a warm depth to the airy, spacious rooms. The furniture has been carefully selected for comfort and appearance, and consists largely of antique and classic pieces.

In spite of the old-fashioned, luxurious atmosphere, Villa Casanuova offers a modern, comfortable holiday experience: air conditioning in the screened bedrooms, a sauna with a ‘Turkish bath’, an office with an internet-connected computer, satellite TV, telephone and a fully-equipped, professional kitchen suitable for cooking courses.

The villa, which can accommodate up to 14 guests, has seven bedrooms with en suite bathrooms (each with a hydro-massage tub); one of the bedrooms is on the ground floor and is suitable for the disabled. Also on the ground floor are two connected living rooms with a large fireplace, a dining room, a dressing room and two extra bathrooms.

There is a private swimming pool (6x12m) below the villa, a six-person, outside Jacuzzi, a sun-bathing terrace and an area where you can dine and enjoy the stunning views of the Siena countryside.
