Given as a gift in 1126 by the owner's widow to a Florentine Bishop, the Cinciano estate has had a turbulent history; fought over by the Bishops of Florence and Siena, the estate narrowly escaped destruction during several uprisings.
Cinciano lies on top of a hill in an oasis of tranquility. Located along a winding country lane, it is surrounded by rolling hills and commands spectacular views across the valley to the mediaeval hilltop town of San Gimignano in the distance.
Fattoria di Cinciano is a large wine estate which produces a broad selection of vintages, including Chianti Classico DOCG, Gallo Nero, Grappa and Vinsanto, as well as extra virgin olive oil, all of which can be bought locally.
The Cinciano apartments have all been carefully renovated to maintain a true rustic Tuscan feel, with many still retaining their original terracotta floors, beamed ceilings and in some cases fireplaces. Many have their own patios or gardens. Those that don't, have their own table and chairs to use whenever they wish. A washing machine is available for guests' use and all apartments share a swimming pool (normally in use May to October) with beautiful views.
