Tuscany vacation rentals - Villa rental and Bed and Breakfast at Fortezza de' Cortesi

Fortezza De Cortesi is an old fortress near San Gimignano and Siena in Tuscany, beautifully converted into holiday rental accommodation. Available as a villa or on a per-room bed-and-breakfast basis, and with a large swimming pool, this makes for a luxurious Italian holiday.

For many years the Fortezza de Cortesi was forgotten, left derelict and open to the elements. Now, it has been restored as a beautiful villa, brought back to life with strict attention to the demands of conservation. Furnished with antiques and Tuscan handicraft furniture, it has draped beds, luxuriant curtains harmonising with the colours of the walls. Rich fabrics, paintings and family treasures and heirlooms complement the opulence of your surroundings. The floors and ceilings are set with antique handmade tiles, chestnut beams rise overhead, and the arched ceilings and capacious fireplaces will transport you back to the richness of mediaeval Tuscany.

All this is, of course, complemented by every modern convenience. The house has satellite TV, air conditioning and heating. You will start each day with a lavish buffet breakfast. There is daily cleaning of bedrooms and bathrooms. The bedrooms all have safe and mosquito net, and each has a private bathroom with a wall-attached hairdryer and shower or bathtub.

There are optional luxuries too, such as a basket of groceries on your arrival; personal chef; extra cleaning and personal laundry services; car and bike rental, and shuttle services to and from the airports at Florence, Pisa, Bologna and Rome. We can also arrange guided tours and trips in a hot-air balloon!

The villa comprises five double rooms and a suite (total sleeping capacity of twelve); a comfortable living room where guests can watch satellite TV; a small study for any private work you have; and a large dining/living room. There is a choice of twin-bedded rooms (beds can be combined to make one double bed), double-bedded rooms, and a double suite. The suite (65 square metres) comprises a living/dining room with fireplace, a large bedroom and bathroom. To rent the house as a whole, the minimum stay is one week, for bed and (Continental) breakfast the minimum stay is two nights.

There are are a total of seven bathrooms, and one of the bedrooms is suitably equipped for handicapped guests.

Please note that from April to September the villa is ideally let on a weekly basis; for this reason, individual rooms are let on pretty much a 'last-minute' basis and we can only accept such requests within 25 days of the desired dates. Pets are not allowed and there are limitations on children stay.
