Il Castello di Fulignano offers something truly special to the visitor to Tuscany. Within this ancient castle, the owners have created 12 sumptuous apartments. And the style of the accommodation is perfectly complemented by the stunning setting.

The castle is set on a hill overlooking both the Valley of Elsa and the city of San Gimignano, the famed mediaeval town of towers. Its panoramic views offer the visitor a stunning vista of Casole d'Elsa, Castellina in Chianti, Barberino Val d'Elsa, Alpi Apuane, the Aretine mountains and the hills surrounding the city of Volterra.

On the ground floor of the castle is a large hall and cantina/restaurant. If you love fine food and drink, then a major delight of your holiday will be the opportunity to enjoy traditional Tuscan foods and wines. There is also a terrace bar to serve you while you relax at the pool.

The dozen apartments cover three floors of the castle. Some of the apartments are independent, some are interconnected, making the accommodation ideal for any type or size of party.

The apartments vary in size from 60 to 80 square metres, and sleep between two and four people. Each has a double bedroom, bathroom (with bath and shower), a living room and fully equipped kitchen. The elegant furnishings are all in traditional Tuscan style - with leather sofas and chairs, refined and comforting fabrics and colours, you'll be enchanted as you relax into your holiday home. The floors are laid with ceramic tiles, and chestnut beams stretch overhead. Some of the apartments have their own chimney. All the rooms look on to San Gimignano and all are equipped with air conditioning, shower, telephone, satellite TV and a safe.

The surroundings of Il Castello are as lovely as the castle itself. There is a large pool in which you can relax and enjoy your vacation in tranquility, surrounded as it is by an Italian garden and a terrace with cypress and olive trees.

And if you have a passion for nature, the area offers a multitude of paths that you can explore by foot, mountain bike or by horseback. Some of these paths, such as the Francigena, are historically important, but even the lesser known ways allow you to enjoy extraordinary views of San Gimignano, Volterra, Casole, Montaione, Barberino, Val d'Elsa, Colle Val d'Elsa and Siena.
