Tuscany villa and apartment rental - A small villa and two apartments in the countryside near Siena share a swimming pool and gorgeous views of the surrounding woods and vineyards - an idyllic spot for a holiday in Italy.
Il Pozzo di Monteriggioni is an independent stone house, the Villetta, and two nearby apartments in a larger building, near to where the farm-workers live. Villetta has large, private outdoor areas, with a wide, covered veranda for dining outside. It has been recently renovated and furnished with some lovely pieces. The two apartments have also been furnished in style, and the three units can be booked together, creating a single lodging that comfortably accommodates 12.
The swimming pool has been created in a landscaped area close to an attractive artificial lake. Nearby there are many restaurants that offer delicious Tuscan cuisine and excellent Chianti wines.
Villetta sleeps six. The ground floor has a large living-room,
kitchen with dishwasher and dining area. Up three steps there is a double
bedroom, one room with comfortable double sofa-bed and a small bathroom with
shower. All of the rooms on the ground floor have access onto the garden.
On the first floor there is a small studio, and one double bedroom with bathroom
with shower. There is a large private outdoor area with veranda, furnished
for outdoor dining.
Grappolo sleeps four. It has a living room with kitchen corner and dining-area,
a double bedroom, and one sofa bed in a separate room. There are two bathrooms
with shower, and private outdoor area. Girasole sleeps two, and is laid out
as Grappolo but without the extra room and sofa bed. All accommodation has
TV and barbecue. We also offer short stay accommodation.
Il Pozzo di Monteriggioni lies between Monteriggioni and Siena, just 7km from the old city centre and 3km from the outskirts. Here you will find shopping facilities, petrol stations, post office, and banks. Siena is also rich in cultural and historic sights. There is the Museo dell'Opa at Santa Maria della Scala, with its ever changing temporary exhibitions. And see the spectacular black-and-white marble Cathedral of Siena and the Piazza del Campo. Time your visit right and you can also see one of the two runnings of Il Palio di Siena, the world famous horse race: tickets for the Palio and for the dinner at the Contrade are available on request.
Also visit the mediaeval hamlet of Monteriggioni, one of the most typical old towns of the Siena area: you can visit the mediaeval Festival which is held here every May. Monterrigioni is also particularly good for traditional Tuscan restaurants, with more scattered about the nearby countryside - 'Il Ceppo' is a few minutes away. The surrounding countryside is not only beautiful but home to many interesting local villages. The owners are on hand to welcome you personally and are at your disposal 24 hours a day for tourist information or other assistance.
The owner's winery, situated within the main villa, can be visited on request. Also, breakfast, lunch, dinner or a brunch can be arranged for you directly by the proprietors - Anna Maria and her family. You can enjoy your meals either at the owners' villa or your apartments. Check-in is between 2pm and 8pm, checkout before 10am; note that breakfast is not included in your price; your hosts speak English and French; small pets are welcome - please confirm first with your hosts; there are no dedicated non-smoking rooms or apartments. The nearest supermarket is in Siena Acqua Calda, 7km away. Florence is 45km away and Pisa 150km. The nearest airports are Florence, Pisa and Rome; there are buses 1.2km away and the nearest rail station is at Siena.
