The apartments are just 5km away from Colle Val D'Elsa, Casole D'Elsa and Monteriggioni. Nearby lie the spectacular hill towns of San Gimignano and Volterra.
[ View on Google Map | map of Tuscany ]San Gimignano is the famous 'town of towers'. In mediaeval times this was a thriving commercial centre, with huge demands on scarce space within the city walls. The city council decreed that buildings were to be no more than 17 yards wide and 24 deep. The result was that everyone built up, with dozens of towers stretching into the sky. Many still remain, and San Gimignano is a beautifully preserved example of mediaeval Tuscany.
Volterra, meanwhile, encloses 3,000 years of history within its fortified town wall ... first raised in the 4th century BC. Thanks to its isolated position, Volterra is unspoiled by the 21st century, retaining its mediaeval character.
You can visit Etruscan remains, Roman baths, the amphitheatre and Acropolis, museums and galleries, churches and the Duomo.
And nearby lies Siena. Within the city's centuries-old walls, pedestrianised streets wind towards the Piazza del Campo. This shell-shaped square - looking much as it did when it was laid out in the 13th century - is the venue for the annual Palio, a breathtaking horse race between the various wards of the city.
