Podernovo di Monticiano is a typical tuscan-style estate with private swimming-pool in the heart of Tuscany, located only 38 km south of Siena which was recently voted as best area to live in the country. It is a quiet, secure and secluded retreat, nestled in one of the best preserved natural areas in central Italy.
Podernovo di Monticiano can comfortably sleep up to 21 people. Besides catering for regular holiday-makers, it can also be rented out throughout the year for weddings, honeymoons, family reunions, friends gatherings, seminars, groups, workshops and corporate meetings.

The nearest airport is Florence(100km), but both Pisa (170km) and Rome (250km) airports are within easy reach.
The village of Monticiano is only a 5 minutes’ walk
from the estate and has most conveniences, including a post office
and two banks with ATM machines. There are restaurants, a pizzeria, a small
wine-bar and a supermarket.
Bus services to and from Siena and to and from Grosseto run twice daily.
There are abbeys and medieval villages nearby: the San Galgano Abbey can be reached in minutes walking through the forest on the property. The Cappella di Montesiepi, next to it, has a sword in a stone! Not surprisingly, as we are on the “via Francigena”, the medieval historical road that runs from Scotland to Rome.

It is located in the 'Farma and Merse Natural Park', one of the best preserved natural reserves in central Italy. The Farma and Merse rivers flow through, still rich in freshwater prawns. Sunflowers and wheat grow in large clearings, although most of the ground is taken up by forests and woods.
The area is criss-crossed by well-marked paths for
adventurous but safe walks, or rides. A number of mountain bikes
is available.
The area offers beautiful horse trekking trails in the
forests, and guided
tours from here to the sea on horseback are popular.
Although we do not have horses ourselves, there are 10 open-air shelters
and we welcome horse-trekkers.
Tuscany is also abundant in hot mineral waters. Petriolo free natural hot-pools (magical at night) are just 10 minutes’ drive away, while La Bagnaia Grand Resort Spa (daily membership available) is only 20 minutes away! Other famous Spas, such as Rapolano, Bagno Vignoni, and Saturnia, are all reachable in an hour's drive.
There are several golf courses within a radius of 70 km. A new 18 hole course will be completed by the end of 2010 at La Bagnaia Grand Resort Spa, only 20 minutes from the estate.
Recent renovations were focused on the room interiors which have been converted with modern living comfort in mind, with carful attention not to alter the original character of the buildings. All floors are made of terracotta tiles, walls have been painted with subtle colours the old-fashioned way and roofs feature plenty of chestnut beams.
The look and feel of the whole place is rustic with style, charming and peaceful.
The swimming pool (11m x 6m) is to the south of the main building, and is surrounded by meadows and woods, with rolling hills in the distance. The perfect place to laze and rest on a hot summer day.
The lawns and gardens that surround the estate are well kept and rich in local vegetation. Rose bushes, rosemary and lavender are plentiful.
