In the search for Siena area vacation rentals, you’ve just found something quite unique. This beautiful apartment is on the third floor of a 14th century palace, joined to a 13th century tower.
Staying here takes you right back to medieval Italy, with a view of the Campo (square) across to the famous belltower, and down onto the venue of the world famous Palio di Siena.
The apartment is reached via a large, heavy medieval door leading onto an ancient stone stairway. One enters into the large, still and cool atrium, paved in antique hand-made terracotta tiles. Your eye is drawn towards the thick stone wall at the far end of the hall, and to the window looking onto the ancient tower of the main square.

From here a spiral staircase leads up to a living area and a guestroom with small bathroom and storage space. The apartment (measuring some 160m²) has a large and elegant (frescoed) living room, and a dining room with beautiful arches. Two big windows look onto the Piazza del Campo, often considered to be 'la più bella del mondo'.
There are fantastic views from here. You can almost take in the entire piazza with one glance, and the famous Torre del Mangia seems close enough to touch. And of course your view of the Palio (the breathtaking horse race run every July and August) is incredible and quite unique. The demand for such a view during Palio weeks is very high, and the price reflects this at those dates.
There is a fine kitchen, dressed in Sienese marble and offering all modern conveniences. Small but very efficient, it has a 4-burner stove, oven, high-end dishwasher and a large fridge. Beyond the kitchen is a beautifully finished dining room with seating for 8, overlooking the Campo through huge windows. The symbols of the districts of Siena are painted around the living room at ceiling height.
