Tuscany villa with pool - This holiday villa, with two swimming pools and set among vineyards and olive groves, makes the perfect base for your Tuscan vacation. Within easy reach of Siena, Arezzo, Perugia, Assisi and Orvieto, and the local thermal spas.
Terre di Nano is a Tuscan country estate from the 1800s, engaged in wine and olive oil production, and located in the province of Siena. Sat between Pienza and Montepulciano and next to the hamlet of Monticchiello, it puts you within easy reach of some little jewels of medieval and Renaissance architecture.
Guests can lodge in twin-bed or double bedrooms, apartments for 4 in the villa or independent houses for 4 - 8 guests. In the hottest months of the year you can refresh yourself by swimming in the two charming pools: one with a view over Monte Amiata, the other, shallower, surrounded by a wonderful series of cypresses.
From the hill, 500 metres above sea level, one can enjoy unique views across the Val d'Orcia up to Monte Amiata. You will be able to take enchanting walks across the hills, between forests of oaks and beeches, or through the evocative Crete Senesi area of Tuscany.
There are many cultural events on the calendar. And there is the superb Tuscan cooking, enjoyed best with fine local wines. The nearby thermal spa centres provide ample opportunity to regenerate the body and the spirit.
The Terre di Nano estate lies in the south of the province of Siena, in the heart of Tuscany. It is within easy reach of Siena, Arezzo, Perugia, Assisi and Orvieto. Florence can be reached in 90 minutes by car, Rome in two hours. Most importantly, Monticchiello, Pienza and Montepulciano, little treasures of medieval and Renaissance architecture, are less than 10 kilometers away from the estate.
The country house overlooks historic areas and the beautifully preserved oak woods, hills and endless valleys of the Val di Chiana and the Val d’Orcia up to the Monte Amiata, home to charming villages like San Quirico d’Orcia, Castiglione d’Orcia, Bagno Vignoni, Rocca d’Orcia, Montalcino and Buonconvento.
Terre di Nano provides wonderful holidays. The surrounding unspoiled valleys are home to beautiful walks whether in summer or winter. With a little guidance you can follow the scenic walking trails prepared by experts or discover the beauty of nature with a rented mountain bike. Others can explore the unspoiled and endless countryside and the less-made routes by car, bus or eventually scooter.
Sports fans will take the opportunity to have a swim in the pools at Terre di Nano, to play tennis or golf at the nearby courts and courses, to explore rural Tuscany on a horse, or take horse-riding lessons.
Eating out in Tuscany is a real delight. Apart from the wine and olive oil the estate produces, why not try typical local dishes in the restaurants nearby. Strolling through the little shops and the weekly markets of Montepulciano, Pienza, Siena and the rest, packed with stalls offering a wide range of local delights, antiques and more, can be a fascinating and charming day.
The Tuscan soil is rich with sulphurous and thermal springs, famous since the time of the Romans. The various thermal centres are to be found at San Casciano dei Bagni, Montepulciano, Chianciano and Bagno Vignoni, offering relaxation and cures for all sorts of ailments, and all within 10 or 20 minutes’ drive.
Tuscany's Val d'Orcia is the inspiring setting for a series of music festivals, theatres and other cultural events. Performing arts move out of doors throughout the region in summer and provide a very intimate sense of location, history and spectacle. To name just a few, there is the Teatro Povero of Monticchiello, the evenings of music and concerts in Castelluccio, the Palio of Siena, the Festa Medievale of Monteriggioni and the Bravo delle Botti at Montepulciano.
