The abbey is suffused with history. Pope Leo XIII would spend his holidays at the Abbey at the end of the 19th century. The current restoration works have been realised under the supervision of the Umbrian Monuments and Fine Arts Office, using old materials and traditional methods.
Between the abbey and the tower there is a 5.000 sqm beautiful flowered garden made by a landscape architect, with a large sea salt water (= no chlorine) panoramic pool, at all guests’ full disposal.
The stone Tower was originally used as a watchtower to defend the Abbey and the nearby “Castello della Pieve” fortress, and looks over the enchanting Tiber Valley and its woods. Surrounded by a large garden with olive and fig trees, broom and lavender bushes, it has been entirely refurbished, according to the dictates of the Department of Cultural Heritage, using old materials and building techniques. Inside, it contains four apartments with two, four and five beds each and a single room with a bathroom: 16 beds altogether. It has a covered car park, panoramic terrace, equipped barbecue area, and exterior lighting with old streetlamps.
