Take the Chianti Wine Tour. You'll spend a day in the wine area between Siena and Florence, visiting farms producing Chianti Classico, vinsanto dessert wine and 20-year-old balsamic vinegar; you'll visit a grappa distillery and two old mediaeval castles.

The Montepulciano and Montalcino Wine Tour is a day's excursion south of Siena, visiting old cellars and tasting the two famous red wines, Nobile di Montepulciano and Brunello di Montalcino, tasting Pecorino cheese in Pienza, listening to the Gregorian chants at San Antimo Abbey, and enjoying the hot waters of Bagno Vignoni.

Or visit Siena and San Gimignano, the city of art and the city of towers, with a chance to taste the famous white wine, Vernaccia di San Gimignano.

Another tour introduces you to the spirituality and art of Saint Francis's Assisi, the wine and olive oil museums in Torgiano with the tasting of Rubesco red wine, and then on to Deruta, the most famous pottery city in Italy.

And travel to Orvieto and Civita di Bagno Regio. An hour's drive on the A1 highway, Orvieto boasts a marvellous Gothic Cathedral and Town Hall, the Palace of the Captain of the People and a very famous local white wine. A final visit to Civita di Bagno Regio, a mediaeval borgo atop a hill and only accessible by a high and narrow bridge, completes the tour.

Or take the Spello, Norcia and Montefalco tour. There is art in Spello, with splendid frescoes by Pinturicchio and Perugmo; traditional food in Norcia, the 'Black Truffle' city; and Montefalco is famed for the Sagrantino, an excellent red wine.
