These holiday rentals, Italy are vacation apartments close to Lake Trasimeno, Umbria. Il Palazzo is a tastefully restored eighteenth-century farmhouse, with completely independent panoramic apartments sleeping 2, 4 or 6 guests. The flavour of Umbria is always retained here, with terracotta flagstones underfoot.
The house is just 35 minutes drive from Assisi, 40 minutes from Gubbio and Spoleto, 20 minutes from Cortona, 75 from Florence, Urbino and Siena . Local events include Umbria Jazz, Festival of the Two Worlds, Todi Festival, the Race of Ceri to Gubbio, the Giostra of the Quintana to Foligno, Race of the Ring to Narni ... and many more. There are marvellous cycling and walking routes in the quiet hills along Lake Trasimeno. Umbria is famed as ‘the green heart of Italy’, and Lisciano Niccone is typical of the region, with its forests and meadows and hills. To make the most of this, the regional authorities have laid out trekking, mountain biking and horse riding paths.
[ View on Google Map | map of region ]Il Palazzo has its own restaurant, with cook Gianna producing Tuscan and Umbrian specialities, with a heavy emphasis on organic produce, at a very reasonable price. Local produce used includes pecorino cheese, olive oil, jams, cuts of pork and wild boar. All the apartments have wi-fi internet connection.
Apartments 1 and 2 have a large dining/living room with a kitchen corner; a double bedroom, a bathroom with shower. There is a sofa bed in the main room. Apartment 2 also has a child's bed in the bedroom and a washing machine in the kitchen. Both apartments have a table and parasol in the peaceful courtyard. (For apartment 1 use of laundry is available).

Apartment 3 has a living/dining room, kitchen with washing
machine; L-shaped double bedroom with additional bunk beds; a double bedroom
with cot and child's bed; two bathrooms with tub and shower, another cloakroom
with WC and basin.
Apartment 4 is similar to the apartment 1, but with its own private terrace
and satellite TV.
Apartment 5 has two double bedrooms, two bathrooms (one en suite), and a third
small bedroom with bunk bed. Large well furnished living room with fitted
kitchen(dishwasher, washing machine fridge/freezer, oven, hobs) sitting and
dining areas. Small garden with outside dining furniture. Satellite TV.
Bed and bath linen is included, but please bring your own pool towels. Full and half board are offered.
We offer cookery courses (three days a week at a total of €25
per person) and our own produce (preserves, wine, oil) are available to buy.
Il Palazzo lies on the edge of the village, just a short walk from the other
village, Mercatale di Cortona. There are restaurants in both villages. Guests
may also fish in a large lake lying roughly 300 metres from the property.
There are cafes, supermarkets, banks, post offices, even though the villages themselves are very small. And there is an enormous amount to do nearby. As well as cycling, walking and horse riding, there is a lovely swimming pool at Il Palazzo. Ten minutes away is Lake Trasimeno, with fishing and aqua-sports. Massages and beauty treatments are also available. You can learn about the farm and the animals and (season permitting) join mushroom and truffle hunts. There are Italian cooking lessons (in German or English) available.
There are many local markets, at Gubbio and Umbertide and a host of local festivals (feste) over the summer, including the Mercatale di Cortona village festa, the Palio in Siena and many more.
