The owners of Agriturismo Alla Madonna del Piatto have made a wonderful job of restoring the property, carefully integrating modern comforts like double glazing and heating with traditional craftsmanship and local materials. The heating system has been concealed under beautiful terracotta floors and with exposed ceiling beams and thick stone walls there is an atmospheric, ageless feel to the accommodation.

The inn has six double bedrooms, and can offer bed and breakfast / short stay vacation accommodation for 1 to 13 guests. Each of the rooms is furnished with a careful selection of antiques and more recent pieces (often hand-made) , and each has a modern, private bathroom with shower. The two ground floor bedrooms are the most atmospheric - situated in the oldest part of the farmhouse - while the upper floor rooms have glorious views towards Assisi.

The sunny hillside aspect of the farm, plus double glazing and central heating, means the house is beautifully comfortable for visitors seeking the tranquility of off-season visits. And during the warmer months, the farm's setting - 600 metres above sea level - ensures cool nights on even the hottest summer's day. The lush, verdant patio is ideal for al fresco picnics on breezy summer evenings.

A typical half-day session includes a gourmet shopping tour and the preparation of a complete meal (lunch or dinner) - the menu might call for cured meats, including the local specialty, wild boar; cheeses; bruschetta with fresh, diced tomatoes; red and yellow bell peppers fried in olive oil with capers, olives and anchovies; homemade ravioli stuffed with ricotta cheese and Swiss chard from the family garden; and for dessert, panna cotta, a silky custard topped with a hazelnut-honey paste. You will soon understand why Italian cuisine is so highly appreciated.
