This twelfth century monastery is a quite unique choice among self catering holidays in Italy – accommodation in Umbria sleeping 18.
The Villa le Preghiere has been lovingly restored and converted into a country home. The house has massive chestnut and oak beams and terracotta floors. The house sits within a lovely garden with a swimming pool and a private chapel. The estate is surrounded by open fields with lovely views of the wooded hills around.
The monastery is excellently located for visits to Gubbio, Perugia, Florence, Rome and Lakes Trasimeno and Montedoglio. Around about lie numerous of Umbria’s walled medieval villages. This accommodation in Umbria is near to Umbertide and Cittá di Castello and the border with Tuscany.
[ local map | map of region ]With nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms, the house will accommodate a group of families or friends. There is a big sitting room and dining room, a library, billiard room and two shaded terraces. Multi-denominational services can be organised in the Oratorio Chapel, in English and other languages (or you can lead services yourself). The chapel is beautifully lit by candles … it is an effect both cosy and magical. The chapel is probably the fourth on the site, with the earliest a Roman temple dedicated to the spirits of the water. You enter through the garden, along a winding gravel path edged by rosemary and lavender.
