Villa Mustafa' Bed and Breakfast

The Ivy Room is very spacious, with two rooms and a private bathroom, and is in green. There is a double bed in the larger room, a single bed in the smaller. Both are decorated elegantly but functionally. The Ivy Room is ideal for those who want to relax with their children.

The town of Montefalco is probably Etruscan. Largely destroyed during Roman expansion wars and the later Barbarian invasions, Falisco Umbro (Montefalco's original name) was to rise again when Roman patrician, Mario Curione took the site as his retreat, fortifying it with walls and turrets and renaming it Cor Curionis (or Corcurione). Sitting 400 metres above the sea it is known as 'the Balcony of Umbria' (Ringhiera Umbra). Walking around the city walls you can enjoy incredible views of the valley of Umbria.

The first Palazzo del Popolo in 1270 established a grand location for the town's government and four gates, surviving today, gave access to the town. From here you look down on magnificent views of the Valley of Alta Umbria, the cities of Trevi and Foligno, and lush olive groves.

Today Montefalco retains its four ancient quarters or boroughs. During August, the town comes alive with the historic festival of Fuga del Bove. The four quarters contest a series of tests and quests in Mediaeval costume, to win the Palio (banner), and alongside runs a grand gastronomic festival.

There's lots more to see in the town. The San Francesco museum has original frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli, Il Perugino and other masters. See the extraordinary hand weavings that still follow the original mediaeval patterns. Local produce of the Montefalco hills include Extra Virgin Olive Oil (protected and guaranteed by the DOP mark) and the very good Sagrantino wine, and you can enjoy these specialties in many gastronomic events during the year.

And you're marvellously positioned for exploring Umbria and Tuscany from here. In less than an hour (by car) you can reach any city in Umbria such as Orvieto, Città di Castello, Gubbio, Norcia, Amelia, Narni, Le Cascate delle Marmore and Lake Trasimeno. In less than a half an hour you can be in Perugia, Torgiano, Deruta, Assisi and Spoleto. And within 10km lie Foligno, Trevi, Bevagna and Bettona. An hour and a half takes you to Rome and Siena and in less than two hours you can be in Florence.
