Time seems to have passed the medieval village of Arqua Petrarca by. In the heart of the Euganean Hills Natural Park, this is one of 'The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy' an organisation which promotes 'the great heritage of History, Art, Culture, Environment and Traditions found in small Italian villages'. The poet Petrarch lived here and is buried in a marble vault in the village square. Other sights include the Oratory of SS Trinità, the Loggia dei Vicari, Petrarch's house, the village fountain with water trough, and a tangle of narrow streets with old palazzi.

Getting here is easy. Monselice rail station is 3km away, Rovigo station 29km and Padua station 30km. Venice Marco Polo airport is 60km, Treviso airport 85km, Bologna airport 95km and Verona airport 120km. You are well located for the A4 motorway, either from Venice or from Milan and the Brenner Pass.
