Your Venice holiday hotel is in the Santa Croce sestiere in the north-west of Venice. Much of this area is very old and typically Venetian, and an escape from the crowds of the city. You’ll find the church of San Stae: richly decorated with marble, it is a sumptuous example of 18th century Baroque. Check out the Palazzo Pesaro, now the International Gallery of Modern art and Museum of Oriental Art. And from here you are very close by the Rialto Bridge – one of the few crossings of the Grand Canal. With markets spilling out on either bank of the canal, this is a lively and vibrant part of the city, you’ll spend hours browsing.
