The owners of the villa, the Gasparini family, were originally from the Orient. The building has been painstakingly restored, retaining all the original features of its historical and artistic heritage, including the traditional Venetian terrazzo floors, made from coloured marble chips ground with crushed stone and stucco, the 18th century gilt-wood window pelmets, and the ceilings with the original exposed beams. Distant echoes from the Orient that had such a strong influence on Venetian style can be seen in the marquetry of the inlaid wood mantle and the partitions of the breakfast room.
