Check-in is any time after noon, and check-out by 11am. You'll find the reception open 24 hours a day, so there is no curfew for guests. Less than two minutes from the hotel you'll find a gondola dock, from which you can take a ride in Venice's most famous and romantic mode of transport. And the waterbus stops at Rialto and San Marco are less than five minutes away.

There is so much to see in Venice that you'll want to plan your holiday with care - luckily the staff at the hotel will be happy to help you with your itinerary. There are famous sights aplenty. The Basilica San Marco is one of the most lavish cathedrals you're ever likely to see, decorated with more than 4000 square metres of golden mosaics. The Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale), once the home of the Doge and all the governing councils of La Serenissima, is a Gothic marvel of a building.

There are terrific galleries and museums too, foremost among them the Accademia, a collection of Venetian paintings solely composed of masterpieces. See also Venice's civic museum, the Museo Correr, and the museum of eighteenth century art at Ca'Rezzonico. There are also the marvellous Schools such as the Scuola di San Rocco with its Tintorettos, and the Scuola di San Giorgio degli Schiavoni, with its works by Carpaccio.

Travel by water plays a huge part in this city built on a lagoon of course - not just the gondolas, but the traghetti, vaporetti and motoscafi, which will carry you around the city and to the furthest reaches of northern and southern islands. But you'll spend as much time on land, checking out the little hidden alleyways and backstreets of old Venice.
